Currently, there are four bills circulating out here in CA that have one goal in mind: legalizing marijuana. Legalizing weed sure sounds like a great idea right, especially when all the politicians are preaching about how we can save our economy by taxing and regulating it. Sure adults might gain the right to buy and possess weed, but what rights will they lose?
If you stop and think about it for a second…do you really want to hand the absolute control of marijuana to the very people who are currently harassing and jailing and terrifying us over it? It doesn’t seem right to give the same people fighting to keep marijuana AWAY from us the exclusive right to SELL it…let alone reap tons of tax revenue to do it!
There was a point in time in our country when it was perfectly legal to grow and possess as much weed as you wanted. So what we all really want is to RE-LEGALIZE marijuana. And, we want it without any taxation or regulation! Why shouldn’t everyone on planet earth be able to grow as much marijuana as they’d like without any intervention?
It’s not like the government isn’t going to be reaping financial rewards if weed were to be RE-LEGALIZED. So the financial reasons to legalize weed are still valid. Imagine the money that could be saved if weed didn’t need to be policed. Seems like Obama and Eric Holder have already seen the GREEN light as they’re (again) telling the DEA to back off from busting, harassing, jailing, terrifying legal marijuana sellers and buyers.
So who else wants to legalize weed MORE than those who enjoy consuming it? Cannabusinesses! You see, they don’t care how the government regulates marijuana…as long as they can sell it to you! And, if they’re the ONLY ones able to sell it to ya…well, even better. Legalizing weed is great for cannabusinesses because it expands their marketplace to EVERYBODY not just patients. And, to make sure everybody keeps coming back, there are laws being written right now that are limiting your rights to grow your own. Some of those laws will even completely prohibit growing your own if you live within a certain proximity to a dispensary.
As we move closer to legalization it’s quickly becoming KEY to stay informed and to know exactly what you’re saying with each and every vote you cast so legalizing marijuana doesn’t ruin everything. It’s important to pass new laws that make marijuana laws better for STONERS not those who are profiting from it already!
Its all about the Money man!! Thats what this worlds all about. Id rather have it legal/de criminalized and taxed then to get arrested. im sure if it was you could grow your own. thats like buys tomatoes from a store and then saving them seeds and growing your own. the government dont tax you for that so they should of for a weed plant.

You make some damn good points. My biggest fear would be poor quality and high prices, but no one really knows what the outcome would be. I think the gov is making a little too much coin of marijuana remaining illegal vs taxing it, but maybe I’m wrong.
right now the goverment canadian/american both get pay offs for keeping it illegal, from both drug cartels from mexico and other 3rd world drug cartels, And pharmaceutical companys themselves(they spend billions of our dollars to make new drugs that still can’t even hold a candle to what marijuana can do for almost all sickness’s from the common cold to being the only known drug that does anything for Alzheimers) the head of mexican drug cartel personally thanked(not in person obviously) president obama for keeping it illegal.. why would that be? lets face it like it was stated above this world consists of money and keeping drugs illegal = more money that legalizing it..
currently it is rumored that 2 billion dollars is running around canada alone as a resualt of marijuana alone…how much do u think canadians pay just for the war on drugs yearly… it’s more than the rumored 2 billion and thats why marijuana is illegal and unless we start to change how our whole human race works(moonnnay!)
